Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This is my first year teaching and until this year I never understood the importance of providing my students with the ability to choose their own seating options. My students are smart, creative and social 3rd graders who struggle to sit at their desks in traditional seats all day long. I would love to be able to accommodate their movement by allowing them to have a choice regarding how they can comfortably complete their work as well as interact with each other. My students don’t like to sit at their desks for very long and when we write my students and I usually sit in the middle of the room on the floor. I would love to provide a means for my students to be able to work on the floor but in a way that is comfortable for them.

My goal for this project is to provide my students with a couple of different options for seating especially when they are working independently as well as in groups.

The seating options I have chosen such as the stools would allow my students to have the option to sit on a stool at their desk or if they prefer to sit on the floor they would have a desk to work at while they are sitting on the floor.

My students work hard every day and their test scores continue to rise because of their hard work and their continued ability to challenge themselves to do their very best on everything that they do. As their teacher I would like to reciprocate by providing them with the resources that would allow them to continue to be successful in everything that they do. These kiddos are our future and if we invest in them they will continue to do amazing things!
