My Project
As a new PE teacher, I am loving (and sometimes struggling with) the learning curve! PE post-Covid, in a society that doesn't always prioritize and teach healthy lifestyles to children, in a tech-driven world... the struggles are real! This last year, I was able to use audio-visuals once in PE for a skill demonstration and it was life-changing! The kids were engaged, motivated, and actively participating. I was even able to walk around and give extra attention to the students. Some even asked for the link to the Youtube video so they could do the exercises at home!
I believe having a TV in our gym will help my students visualize, engage, and learn exercise skills that can impact their immediate and long-term physical fitness.
I would like to show them videos of the Olympic sports (I learned it is incredibly hard to explain what bob-sledding is to a child who's never seen it!), to learn dances together, to do Follow-The-Leader exercises, to show them their progress, etc. My students speak the language of tech, help me speak their language to teach them physical fitness!
