Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a low income school where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students face difficulties and struggles in their life, and truly deserve an amazing education. These children deserve nothing but the best life can offer them.
Every student deserves educational equity and this starts with fairness, this means someone's personal conditions shouldn't interfere with their education or academic successes.
My students are hardworking and lovable, they deserve a chance to reach their potentials. This can be done through time, love, and the right resources to fit their needs.
My Project
The materials we are hoping for are recess equipment, such as a football, soccer ball, kickball, jump ropes and sidewalk chalk. In addition to the recess equipment to get them moving outside, I requested two bean bag chairs for the classroom so that the students can be more flexible when sittingaround the room to work on projects. These small things will add to our classroom and would improve the learning environment by creating a way to let the students have flexible seating when in the classroom and a way to get energy out when at recess.
The students I work with have very little recess equipment, we go to recess on a "black top", this is where the buses pick and drop off; the students normally just stand around.
By receiving these donations the students would be able to just be kids for a a few minutes a day.
This physical activity would not only help them outside but would help them in the classroom as well, when asked to focus.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
