This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My wonderful students come from the neighborhood around the school and are a delight to teach. We are a Title I school, and the boys and girls represent a diverse population. I love my position as the school librarian and enjoy seeing the classes once per week. I have created Literature Review Buckets for each table. They rotate each week. Students have about 30 different books to read and reviews during library class. A large variety of these books come with dust covers. We need Mylar film to cover the dust jackets. This will prolong the life of the books in our Literature Review Buckets.
My Project
Many of the books we receive come with a paper book jacket over to hardback book. The book jacket is often different from the book cover. The book jackets are not very durable and we need plastic covers for the book jackets. When you add the book jacket you also need new spine labels to label the book with the correct call number. Your donation to our project will purchase enough book jackets to cover 100 to 150 book jackets. The spine labels will last 4 to 5 years. The clear plastic covers also help protect the books from being damaged. Most of the picture books in our easy section need clear plastic that covers on the jackets.
