This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Pre-K classroom is a vibrant, hands-on learning environment where students can explore and become life-long learners. This is their very first year of school, and I love to set their expectations high. I have 20 wonderful, fun, loving Pre-K students, who are learning two languages: English and Spanish. They come to school ready to learn each day. They are quick to ask questions, participate, and jump in to exploring and discovering new things. They will learn to discover, explore with confidence, and develop a lifetime love of learning.
My Project
My students are getting ready to learn all about light, water, and babies in the upcoming unit of study. We need your help to enhance play. Our children learn to play! Each material will play a great role in helping enhance imaginative role play in the dramatic area by engaging in pretend play. My goal is to get a shadow puppet theater where students can create their own shadow puppets and make up their own stories. In addition, the shadow books will help children build on what they know about light, darkness, and shadows through informational texts.
Cooperative play has helped our students learn to take turns, share responsibilities, and creatively problem-solve.
They are also learning about the world from their own point of view and learning to understand the feelings of others. The ink cartridge will help me share immediately pictures of the learning through play.
My children love engaging in the water table. To explore and learn about water in a fun way, our dramatic area will be turning into a laundry mat. The laundry set will help enhance our vocabulary skills by talking about the role of water plays in cleaning clothes. The laundry set will help our children with writing and number recognition. Children will create their own prices for washing, drying, and folding.
During our baby unit of study, our dramatic play will turn into a nursery, which will be a hit in my class. The kids love caring for the babies! The children will learn to care for the babies and learn about what human babies need Having a baby doll bed, toy strollers, high chair, a baby changing station, baby clothes, and accessories will be will be a great addition to imitate a real-life nursery.
