Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it was like when you got to write on a chalk board or white board as a kid? My students get excited each time we have a lesson that requires them to write on a dry erase board. The students can do the problems and then hold the boards up for a quick check from me.
My second graders are beautiful and eager to learn children.
They are full of wonder and all love to learn. We are at a school that is going through lots of changes. Not only have we gone from 20 to 30 kids in a classroom but we have tripled our second language learners. Special needs students have been added to my classroom. My students have reached out to help others in the room. A special bond has developed between my autistic students and their room 1 friends. What a blessing they all are.
My Project
We do two main lessons a day that require dry erase boards (Board Math and Board Language). These 20 minute lessons are a spiral review and practice of past skills. I am able to project the skill/practice on my board in the front of the room and all students work out the correct response on their individual boards. With the count of one, two, three, boards up..... all students hold their board with two hands above their head for a quick check. Students are then eager to earn a tally mark for their correct response. How they do love to earn points for their good work. When the lesson ends, students count up their points and proudly display their number on their board for me to see. Then, it is on to the next lesson!
This request is important for the students' learning because it motivates them to work through the entire lesson.
Dry erase boards adds fun into their busy, busy learning life. Thank you so much for helping us out.
