This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Dear Santa... please help our class! Our 2nd grade class is in desperate need of good quality headphones. Our school provided us with earbuds at the start of the year and because they were cheap, they broke very easily. Now, we are down to a couple of headsets with hard plastic ear covers (that hurt) and the rest of our class has to turn their volume way down so that it is not disruptive to other students (which makes it hard for them to hear). Headphones are needed weekly for the common formative assessments that are taken every Friday in math and English language arts. So, headphones are an essential school supply at our school.

Our school is a Title I school that is 97% English Language Learners and in a low-socioeconomic area of Phoenix.

Because of this, many of our families are unable to assist us by sending in headphones for their students. Our English Learners need the support of headphones in the classroom to aid in their learning of the English language. The ability to listen to stories as well as speak into a microphone to retell the stories is a big part of their learning.
