My Students
Do you know those students who are always wanting more? Well, this perfectly describes our students. They want to make improvements and build a better world. They are overflowing with new, innovative ideas. Our school provides every student with the opportunity to express themselves and the freedom to explore their passions. These students are a unique and promising group. We are a public STEM magnet school and our students choose to leave behind the comfort of their home school and their friends they know to seek a challenging environment and test their abilities. Teachers describe our students as determined, risk-takers, and motivated.
When you walk our halls, you hear students collaborating on classwork and team projects.
Watching the students work together and utilize one another's strengths and talents is refreshing. Our students enjoy practicing their leadership skills through STEM projects, school-based clubs, and opportunities in the classroom. I am so lucky to work with such creative, talented, and ambitious children who strive to succeed.
My Project
My students are very talented and bright, but they love to move! Movement can be distracting so I am working on building an environment that provides students the opportunity to move around but not distract others.
Flexible seating will allow my students to fidget as needed without distracting them from their learning.
I have found that my students are constantly out of their chair. If I replace the chair with a stool, exercise ball, or floor chair, students do a better job of remaining in their seat and completing their work. These additional materials will help me continue to build a classroom environment that promotes student success!
