Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my students come from low income households. Many of them are being raised in single parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences we take for granted. I always focus on their potential and growth while they are at school and strive to make sure they understand they are value and that I believe in them. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

2nd grade students have many great stories to tell. By putting iPads in their hands, they can capture their stories with videos, pictures, music and ideas that cannot be measured on a standardized test. Our goal is to use digital media tools to create and record meaningful stories from their lives and to share these stories in ways that enable learning, build community, and inspire others. By using Apple TV we will share ideas instantly, or collaborate on one project. With these materials students will learn to express themselves and increase higher level thinking skills while inspiring others to do the same!
