My Project
My students love their free flowing center time and I love that I've been able to provide them that time for independent exploration. I feel like it's important to give children options, as they grow their love of learning and learn the routines of school. Our classroom has been busy learning letter names, sounds, decoding, and blending. While some students are still working on more basic skills, others have taken the leap into reading grade level and above text. Giving them sight word activities to do in their centers will increase their automaticity with reading these words.
Students who are more fluent in their reading have more self-confidence and better reading comprehension.
I want to give my students new activities for word building and word reading. Our goal is to become more fluent readers and writers, and activities like the Snap and Build sight words and the three and four letter word puzzles will help us achieve that goal.
