My Students

Do you remember what it was like to be a first grader, so very excited to pick out your very own book? Do you remember the feeling you had when you opened up the cover and discovered that the words to your favorite story were too hard for you to read? My students need your help!!!

I have a classroom of 22 energetic first graders who are extremely eager to learn.

My students are super excited about becoming readers and have a genuine love for the learning process! Each and every day with them is an adventure! I am striving to provide the children with opportunities that will help them to become lifelong learners!

My Project

My students would greatly benefit from having a variety of books on CD! Being read to is a wonderful tool for building listening comprehension skills and fluency in beginning readers. These books and Cd's would also allow my students more of a selection to choose from, giving them the opportunity to choose a book that suits their interests. Another issue that receiving these books would help to eliminate in our classroom is the problem of not having enough books for the entire group at the listening center. Have you ever tried to explain to a first grader that they have to sit and listen while another student gets to hold the book? Not an easy task! By receiving books in sets of 4, each child in the center will have their very own copy of the book! A very exciting thing in first grade!

Being read to is a vital part of the reading process, providing us with a selection of books on CD would be greatly appreciated! We could never thank you enough!
