Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach music to students ranging from Pre-kindergarten through eighth grade in an urban school district. In my district, we believe that all children can learn with proper instructional methods and qualified teaching staff. While this is true, I have also found that my students are exceptionally eager learners.
In my music classrooms, I have no desks or tables. Having only chairs makes it nearly impossible for students to write anything down on paper. I want them to be able to compose original music, take exams, write down notes, the little ones can color or draw, but this is extremely difficult to do on your lap and uncomfortable to do on the floor.
These learning boards are an ideal solution to our problem. They are lightweight and can be placed on the students' laps or under the chair when not in use. We have such wonderful students in the district and I feel that they deserve the best. Such a small thing can make a significant difference in getting students to focus on learning and be able to have a successful learning environment.
With your generous help, my students will be able to do so much more in their music class to expand their musical horizon. We will be able to draw, write, compose, and create with your help. These deserving students will be so grateful for your generosity! They come to school eager to learn, and you will have given them a better chance at success by giving them the gift of necessary materials.
