Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love music class! They enjoy learning about rhythms, instruments, music genres, composers, and melodies - but the best part is them singing, moving to music, playing games, and playing instruments. Music isn't just a subject to be learned about, but a subject to experience!

My Project

I teach at two schools and my second school has very few instruments. I am teaching music on a cart due to the "learning cottage" being condemned. Right now my students are learning to "drum" on their desks, but it just isn't the same.

My amazing students need to have real instruments, not just drumming on their desks.

The more practice time a student has on an instrument, the better musician they become.

These two instruments are just what we need. Drumming increases body awareness & kinesthetic development; drumming helps students develop graceful coordination and self-control. Participating in a drumming activity can help a child feel safe enough to express his/her feelings and work on attention, impulse control, and decision-making skills.
