Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a wonderfully diverse group of students. My students face many challenges. Some of these challenges include poverty and homelessness. In our school, 90% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price meal plans. Over half of my students are English Learners.
Despite the difficulties my kids face each day, they are eager to learn.
They work hard and try their best. They are my heroes, and I love being their teacher! Our staff is remarkable. We offer support to our students and their families before, during, and after school hours. The dedication of every person working at our school is amazing. We truly care about our students and work tirelessly to help them achieve against some pretty heavy odds. We have created a caring and nurturing environment for the children we serve, and you can feel it throughout our campus.
My Project
My students need hands on experience with multiplication concepts. They love poppits and will use them to create arrays. The Rekenrek will help them with skip counting. The toner cartridges will be used to print practice sheets and tracking records as they master their multiplication facts.
My students will not just learn multiplication facts but will develop a deeper understanding of what multiplication means at all levels.
They will utilize them as the experience math through the concrete, representational and abstract in order to master multiplication in the third grade!
