This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work with the entire student body and see varying degrees of emotional, physical, and academic achievements. Each student is unique, beautiful, and bold in their own way. I am very blessed to learn from them each and every day. We host military students whose parents are working for local military bases.
My students are creative in ways that are soul-defying and extraordinary, especially when considering some of their poverty level realities.
Every day, I see the magnificent progress that can't be measured by a standardized test or determined by a letter grade.
My Project
Students will receive large puzzle pieces to show the similarity of being children. The diversity will come within the decorating of the puzzle pieces with stickers, large markers, arts and crafts. After discussing how we all like different things and come from differing backgrounds, students will interlock the puzzle pieces to see that no matter our differences, we have the amazing ability to fit together and make a larger, more beautiful picture. Diversity isn't a tool to separate but to uplift, learn and celebrate. Students learn what we teach. We must teach how we ALL matter, every day, all day. Students are watching.
