Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are driven to find their personal passion! We are in a low-income area where students find their sanctuary at our school. Many of my students end up at our school because a traditional school was not meeting their personalized needs. These students often have gifts that go undiscovered due to the lack of understanding of their needs. I feel that it is important for them to discover what they are passionate about, enabling them to develop college and career goals.

My Project

Having an iPad pro in our classroom is a huge dream of mine. I have so many reasons for wanting this item. There are a few projects that I am working on for my eighth grade students. The first one is I want to have equipment available for them to make their own podcasts. We listen to podcasts in the classroom right now and I think it would be a fantastic way for students to get creative and create their own. Having an iPad Pro would allow them to be able to record and edit their podcast projects. We also want to start our own blogs and videos. We are working on adding a green screen and video recorder. Having an iPad Pro in our classroom will also us easily record and video!

Obviously having an iPad Pro would help make our dream a reality.

I am always trying to find unique and creative ways to engage my students. They will absolutely love using this technology to create awesome projects in our Language Arts and History class.

I also plan on using this iPad for professional development, developing my own recordings for my students to access for interventions, review, and online instructions. Being a teacher during the COVID19 crisis has taught me to always make sure I have access to technology and find ways to remotely teach if necessary. Having to work remotely has also helped me discover new ways to reach my students. I have found that many of them enjoy being able to access recordings and lessons if they need help. This iPad pro will allow me to create these resources for them, even after the COVID19 crisis passes.
