My Students

We are a hands-on class who learn by doing. Our little hands like to make big things happen! Help us get a sand table to use at centers, and literacy materials to help sharpen our reading skills.

I teach a group of 20 Kindergarten kids in central Oklahoma.

We are located in a school district with a high poverty level. My kids are energetic, fun, and love school. They aren't afraid to get their hands sticky, dirty, or wet in the name of learning!

My Project

Small kids learn best by doing things hands-on. What better way to learn than through play? A sand table will allow them to develop socialization and fine motor skills. This would be a great tool for science, math, and reading - as they dig for dinosaur bones, numbers, and letters. The literacy manipulatives and activities I have requested will be put to great use at weekly ABC Centers. Rhyming, writing, beginning sounds, and vowel sounds are all skills that ensure a successful foundation in reading.

A sand table would be a great addition to our classroom and provide hours of learning through play. It would be used at science, math, and literacy centers. The rhyming game and beginning sounds writing mats will help my kids read. These materials would be utilized in my weekly centers. My kids would see that learning is FUN!
