We Desperately Need Basic Supplies!

My students need basic supplies for use in the Art room, such as a class set of scissors, rulers, pencils, an electric pencil sharpener and various drawing papers.

My Students

What's an Art class without the basic supplies? Drastic budget cuts have affected the Art room and now the students. We haven't had a budget in the last 2 years! I have basically been relying on what we've had since the last order, and now our supplies have dwindled.

Our students are inner-city kids who are tough on the outside, but all heart on the inside.

Our school is comprised of a very small amount of students, and since we don't have our own building, we are housed on half of one floor of a much, much larger school. They work hard and they really LOVE ART, which makes my job very enjoyable! I feel so bad when they have to share the 10 pairs of scissors we have left. Lately, I've been cutting drawing papers in half to conserve what we have. The last straw was yesterday, when our electric pencil sharpener went kaput! I had to ask for help.

My Project

Since our students love Art, a donation of basic supplies will boost their productivity and motivation. I have requested a class set of scissors, rulers, pencils, a pencil sharpener and various papers. My students will be able to participate fully in our project making, and not have to feel as if they are wasting time waiting their turn to use the supplies. They are good kids, and have been quite patient with our situation, but I'd love for them to have an Art room with adequate supplies!

The devastating budget cuts in our city and state have left students with much to be desired... even the most basic of supplies!

I am pleading with donors to give any small amount they can give... every little bit counts! My students will learn first-hand how important it is to be generous and to go beyond themselves to help others. Also, they will be able to create gorgeous works of Art freely and without interruption... and that's always a good thing!!
