Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My special needs students are about to begin their last year at our school. The stakes are high and they must all rise to meet the challenges ahead.
My class consists of 12 learning disabled students in one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in New York.
They are mostly fifth graders who are transitioning to middle school next school year. They are eager and friendly children that are always willing to try new things.
My Project
The materials I ordered are organizational tools that will help my students manage their learning independently. Having these materials at the beginning of the school year will help establish rituals and routines that will maximize the time during daily lessons. The writing folders have pockets for their writing in every step of the writing process. This clearly defined space will help my special needs students work on the PROCESS of writing. The writing organizer will hold all the writing materials in a one central location. The lap board center will keep all the necessary materials readily accessible to all the students and teachers in the classroom. The teacher organizer will help me keep their important documents readily accessible for the students, parents and administrators.
My goal for my students is too empower them to take initiative of their own learning by teaching them to be organize and recognize their own learning styles.
Students with special needs thrive on rituals and routines that included classroom set-up and organization of materials. The materials provided by your donation will help accomplish these goals.
