Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I love that when my students see me in the hallway, they call me Mrs. Art Teacher and say hello. They also ask what project they will be doing next and can't wait to come to my art class. My students are special because they come from culturally diverse backgrounds and are eager to learn about the arts. They are enthusiastic learners. Because of COVID, I make it my mission to choose art activities with bright colors which help bring happiness. I also incorporate activities using social-emotional learning strategies which help bring calm, joy, and relaxation to my students.

Imagine designing a new clothing line or a new car?

I want to provide this exciting opportunity for my art students.

My students are in need of a new color printer at their technology center. They will be able to print out fashion designs, car designs, illustrations of buildings, and more in color. Children enjoy seeing their works in full color after designing on the iPad or computer.

They are also learning about careers related to art, science, technology, and so much more.

Many of my students do not have access to a computer or printer at home, and I want them to have this hands-on exposure at school using a color printer with immediate access of their design.
