This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In light of inconsistent economic funding and limited resources, my students are still expected to meet our state standards in reading comprehension and literature appreciation. For this reason, I am requesting a set of the novel Wonder by RJ Palacios. By using this book in our literature circles, my students will be allowed to meet that goal.

I have a classroom full of energetic fourth graders who are eager to learn.

We are part of a large metropolitan school district. My class is ethnically diverse. Our school has a large population of students who have various disabilities.

My Project

As part of our classroom's language arts curriculum, the boys and girls look forward to our literature circles on Fridays.

In the literature circles, the students are provided with the opportunity to express themselves, use reading strategies and make personal connections to the text.

The students will then create book reviews and share them on our class website.

Your donation will be a significant contribution in our class’ pursuit of expanding our literary horizons. This particular title includes a rich exposure to figurative language and such exposure will influence dynamic writing. Most importantly, reading this book will provide my students with the opportunity to understand what life is like for people not like themselves.
