Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students get bored with the chalk and talk lectures that they have been so accustomed to. I try to get them to participate in the lessons as much as possible but it's not always easy to reach every student.
My mathematics students are inner city kids who attend a large public high school in New York.
They want to do well in school and try to keep engaged in their classes. They have math for an hour and a half every day and some students struggle to remain on task.
My Project
I am requesting white board markers for students to use throughout lessons. I have individual white boards that students can write on and show my responses at any time I ask. It helps students stay engaged and it provides me with immediate feedback of their learning. They really enjoy using the whiteboards and they all pay attention knowing that they will have to show me answers at any time. The only problem is that the markers dry up quickly and we can't use the whiteboards that frequently.
If you donate to this project, my students will be able to use individual white boards all year long.
They will stay engaged in class and have a great chance of being successful in mathematics.
