My Students

Middle school is a big transitional time for students. My eighth grade students are no different. They are ready to make perhaps the greatest transition, from middle school to high school.

My students are a group of eighth grade young adults who are significantly below grade level expectations in reading.

They are working hard to improve their reading skills. They give up an elective to be in my reading class to work on reading strategies such as comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary.

I have a great group of young adults that are eager to learn. Their goal is to improve their reading skills. This will prepare them to be successful in high school, as well as college or career ready.

My Project

These headphones will enhance our current reading program. Often kids are very self-conscious about reading aloud. This is especially true of my eighth graders. They have struggled throughout their school years with reading, and often have been embarrassed when reading in front of their peers. Now, they don't want anyone one to hear them read out loud. These headphones will enable the students to be able to speak quietly into the atached microphone without bringing unwanted attention to themselves.

Students need to be able to hear themselves read without the fear of embarrassment!

They will utilize the playback feature to hear themselves read various passages aloud without the fear of embarrassment. I can also listen to their recorded passages to assess their progress.
