Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Technology is big in our school. We use our computer all the time. Not only are computer skills a vital life skill but also in the classroom they are extremely motivational. Unfortunately, we can't print any of our student work because we have run out of ink.
I work in a public school in urban New York.
The students in my school come from very low income homes and many of our families are even living in shelters. We try to provide a safe and happy atmosphere during the day for our students because so many of them do not have that at home.
My Project
My students need 4 packages of tri-pack computer ink cartridges because we do lots of projects on our computer, but we can't print them. In today's world, technology is changing and growing daily. Many of our students do not have access to computers or technology at home, so it becomes our job to teach them these skills. Technology is no longer optional, it is vital. In order to get a job in today's market, employers are looking for technological skills. Although my students are only in second grade it must start now, therefore, much of our work is done on the computer. However, in order to complete our projects, we need ink. Please help!
I am very proud to work in a school that is trying so hard to expose our young children to technology.
We have smartboards and computers and even participate in video conferencing. However, due to budget cuts, teachers are responsible for buying their own ink, or any accessories that are needed. We want to continue our work using technology, but we can not keep up with the out of pocket expenses.
