This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach math to a wonderful group of 8th grade students. My students have different learning styles and use different approaches to model and solve math problems. They love to show what they can do and walk each other through how they modeled or solved a math problem. Currently students in my classroom can only demonstrate solving math problems themselves, by going in front of all students in the class and writing on the Promethean board, but this makes many students nervous and uncomfortable.
An iPad and Apple Pencil would enable both me and my students to model math concepts and solve problems from any place in the classroom and have our work displayed in real-time on the Promethean board.
An iPad and Apple Pencil would have many functions that would increase engagement and learning in our classroom. I could use the iPad and Apple Pencil from anywhere in the room to keep students on task while still being able to write on the board. The iPad can be used as a mobile document camera to display student work. The iPad and Apple Pencil can be used to record instructional videos for small group rotations or to record guided notes to upload to google classroom for absent students, and so much more! Since the iPad would also be used by my students, a protective case is needed to help protect it if it were dropped.
