Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students thrive in a rich and fun learning environment. They are always curious to learn new things. My students live in a high poverty, California city that has ninety-three percent of students receiving free lunch and ninety-five percent who are English Language Learners. Many of my awesome students enter school with little to no English.
The construction and card stock papers, glue sticks, and crayons will help us create wonderful art projects that will tie into our core curriculum.
All of the literacy and art activities will be correlated to the California Common Core Standards.
My Project
Students will use the card stock and construction paper to create fiction and nonfiction books while working on different units in their Reader's and Writer's Workshop. The glue sticks will allow them to paste their masterpieces onto the construction and card stock papers while using their imagination. The crayons will also allow them to explore while using vibrant colors. Students will work on various art projects stemming from erosion in science to creating robots in Maker Space. All of these essential art supplies will come in handy when students work in collaborative groups on many various academic projects in class.
