Help me give my students science kits to help understand the environmental and biological issues we are facing in the real world today. In particular, the students need to understand ecological disasters and alternative energy sources.
My students are interested in robotics, computer programming, art, science, math and many other things. In particular, my STEM students love building robots, learning about the ecological disasters we face and understanding how to mitigate the problems they will face. They are exceptionally hard workers and want to become engineers, scientists, and teachers. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take risks in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
We are a school intent on helping students become insightful, well educated, and aware of the beauty of our world but also aware of the problems that exist.
Our school is nestled in heart of North-Central Florida on the western edge of Alachua County.
It is my goal to remind each student in my classroom and those who participate in our STEAM Clubs how to love learning. The method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and offer many clubs and activities to enhance their education.
My Project
From oil spills to algal blooms, fossil fuels to alternative energy, changing weather and increasingly violent storms, these are the issues we are facing today and our students need to understand the technology we can use to help mitigate these problems.
How can we teach our young citizens of the world to love and care for the earth?
How can we help train them to see the world around them and encourage them to be the change or support those who aspire to make changes to the way we utilize the earth's resources?
Using STEM labs focusing on bacterial resistance, algal blooms, and alternative energy, we, as teachers, and lovers of nature, can provide knowledge about the world's ecological issues and how to change our future.
