We have two first grades in an elementary school on the west side of Green Bay. We are a neighborhood school with 50 first graders in two classrooms. Sixty-three percent of our students receive free/reduced-price lunch. Our classrooms have students with special needs as well as English language learners.
This year we will strive to engage our students using games to help our first graders make progress in math.
In order to make this work, we will need some additional resources.
The SmartPal sleeves will help our students reuse paper instead of going through many sheets of paper all year. The fine point Expo markers will help the students as they are playing the games so that they have a fine tip to write in the boxes. Many of our families face financial hardships so it is not realistic to ask them for extra supplies.
Having the correct supplies helps our students to stay focused on the task at hand instead of worrying about other things.
The SmartPal sleeves last longer than page protectors so that they will make it through the entire school instead of having to be replaced.
