My students are products of their experiences. They strive for greatness and have a passion for learning.
I teach 22 wonderful kindergartners at a low-income school in Detroit.
They are passionate about learning and always try their best. They always have positive attitudes and love using manipulatives to learn. As they have begin to learn sight words and read, they are even more eager to come to school and learn! I am amazed by the growth they have shown recently.
My Project
Every week we learn 2 new sight words. My students will be using the Hot Dots cards and pens during reading workstations. The cards will be a fun way to reinforce the sight words and blends they have learned. The children will be using the sight word books during silent reading and small group reading. Having these books will provide them with more options to choose from.
These items will provide my students with more hands-on experiences while learning.
We recently received our first Donors Choose items, and the children were super excited. They asked if there were games and puzzles for sight words. So we, as a class picked out and voted on these puzzles, Hot Dots cards, and games. Receiving these items will also teach them about humility, and being thankful for what we have, and people helping us.
