Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are ready to learn both in school and out. I’m much more ready at school than at home. Help me acquire a few items that might enhance teaching in order to excite learning.
Help me give my students the essential learning elements, books, files, which they will need to learn at home.
They will be surprised to see that DonorsChoose not only helps us in our classroom, but also in our homes.
My Project
My students are a group of boys who are funny, creative, talented, and behaviorally challenged individuals who fight daily to remain focused and on task. They are a blend of kids who are in a Title I school and receive free breakfast and lunch. With life the way it is, a new way of learning is being thrust upon them at a time in their lives when that ability to learn is already a challenge, one which brings with it a new paradigm, a new learning puzzle which my students will have to work around; they already burn through many educational circuits for the privilege of an education. For this reason, I am worried about their educational needs while at home during this quarantine which they probably don’t fully understand. I’m their teacher each day, Monday-Friday and can discuss, debate, answer questions, and put out fires! Today is different for me too and we’re each trying to move forward through this maze of sharing information.
My students need a stable and conducive home/school area with books, paper, pens, markers, journals, manipulatives, etc.
