My Students

We team-teach two classes of fourth graders on the south side of Chicago, IL. Our students are bright, creative, and a ton of fun! We love being able to teach them because we get to see how their brains work to solve problems. Every day they come up with ideas we never would have thought of. Many students begin fourth grade nervous. We get to help them grow into confident scholars by honoring their unique problem-solving strategies and celebrating their mistakes as well as their successes. Our students work hard every single day, and deserve the best of the best!

My Project

This year poses unique challenges for our students, and we'd like to help ease any struggles our students will encounter by offering each one a gift bag full of supplies. This project will equip each student with individual supplies for distance learning including notebooks, highlighters, pencils, a novel, a dry erase board, dry erase markers, a place value chart, earbuds with a microphone, a clipboard, and a cursive handwriting workbook. With a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, we will purchase digital growth mindset journals and other community building activities to be done online, so that we can get to know our students as learners and individuals. This year is bound to have its challenges, as the first quarter is guaranteed to be all online and the rest of the year is undetermined. Our fourth graders are up to the challenge, and so are we! Each gift bag of learning materials will be hand-delivered to each learner's home by us. This will give us an opportunity to start the year off letting our learners know that we care about them!
