We are so excited for these upgrades to our digital audio workstations and keyboard lab. 6th graders are testing out a new songwriting curriculum that I have been putting together for the past few years, and are now able to use the headphone splitters to hear their keyboard practice and create new beats on our iPads using Soundtrap. 4th and 5th graders will also be trying some guided songwriting in the Spring, and we will be able to document their progress and final products using Soundtrap as well! The headphones and splitters will help us ensure we get a good quality recording that everyone can listen to. Lastly, the storage will give the 3rd grade students a place to store all of our recorders! We will also be using the Zip-Kits to bridge hand drumming and electronic beat production. Students are sure to come up with some exponentially creative grooves, all because of YOUR generous support. I'm especially excited about the laminating pouches and sheet protectors. The sheet protectors are used in our Math Resource folders, for small group activities, and for Math centers. This allows me to see student thinking for formative assessment purposes and allows students to have repeated practice necessary to master the skills being learned. \r\n\r\nWithout your donations, these experiences would not have been possible. The bass guitar transformed The Electric Swarm's sound at our recent Winter Concert performance and now we can't stop rockin' out! This has given two students the opportunity to learn a new instrument and has given a tremendous boost to our rhythm section.\r\n\r\nThe first song that students chose to learn after getting back from Winter Break is Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes-- I couldn't think of a better song to break in our new bass guitar! The students sound absolutely awesome playing it and this song has been a great way for our guitar players to start learning tablature and power chords. The best part is seeing how happy the kids are; they are smiling from ear to ear and are so excited to use their new tools to learn and play.\r\n\r\nBeyond just having new things to use, these supplies are helping our students learn how to be responsible. By teaching them to keep their bins neat and put things back in the right spot, we are helping them build great habits that will last a lifetime. Learning how to stay organized now sets them up to be successful learners in the future, and we are so glad they have these tools to practice with every day.
