Because of your kindness, we've been able to get our classroom in great shape! We've finally sorted all our crayons and glue so the kids can find what they need easily. We also used the supplies to make special learning bins for each child, so every student has their very own kit to work with. The best part is seeing how happy the kids are; they are smiling from ear to ear and are so excited to use their new tools to learn and play.\r\n\r\nBeyond just having new things to use, these supplies are helping our students learn how to be responsible. By teaching them to keep their bins neat and put things back in the right spot, we are helping them build great habits that will last a lifetime. Learning how to stay organized now sets them up to be successful learners in the future, and we are so glad they have these tools to practice with every day. They have been put to good use this Spring as we have been getting ready to perform at Kindergarten and 6th grade promotion celebrations. Our singers' tunes ring out loud and clear and are easily adjustable from the front of the stage! We are able to use one of the speakers as a monitor to help the rest of the band hear each other better as well. The Bluetooth component has been so wonderful to use to play music in the background as families arrive before concerts and also for playing tracks for the general music classes. The PA system has been a HUGE game changer for our program!!!\r\n\r\nNext up is summer break, where students are excited to continue learning through music summer camps and small group or individual lessons. We are celebrating a successful first year for The Electric Swarm and looking forward to all that we can accomplish in year two!\r\n\r\nThank you again for your support and love for the arts! Your generosity has played a huge part in helping our music classes at Shoesmith blossom into a strong program where students can explore their musical interests and build their musicianship. Because of your support, I've been able to make math even more fun! We've been using our math games every Friday which they all look forward to. The games have not only been making their math experience joyful, but it's also challenged them to think about numbers in a different way. Students have had to be flexible in their thinking and apply strategy in order to win the games. The games have also allowed me to expose learners to new concepts, like square roots and exponents, in order to create their desired numbers. The games have increased motivation in our classroom, and sparked a love for math in many students. \r\nAnother amazing addition to our classroom thanks to your donations were the visual multiplication flashcards. My paraprofessional has been using these flashcards faithfully each morning with groups of students to increase their multiplication fluency and students are making great gains! The visual aspect of the flashcards truly helps students make meaning of the products and lock them into memory. I'm so grateful for your help in providing my classroom with these math materials.
