School is going to look very different this year. As kindergarten is my students' first experience with formal education, I am determined to make this experience as positive as possible. My five- and six-year-old students need the ability to move while working while also staying in their own space. Our school is diverse in every sense of the word and it is important to me that they each have what they need to make learning at school as effective as possible.
My students learn best through doing and moving, and I strive to give them the environment and tools to best meets their needs.
They deserve the best start to their education and the foundation to help them succeed. They are eager to learn with all the tools I give them.
So many things about this coming school year are uncertain. One thing I constantly think about is how to socially distance in a classroom and teach effectively. I believe students are going to have to sit in their chairs more often than ever during lessons and independent work. Typically, my students are able to move around the classroom and use many different options of flexible seating. However, this year I believe the fidget bands are the best option. Students will need to be in their chairs more but their bodies can constantly be working with the fidget bands.
When students are able to easily move in their own space, their ability to focus is better.
They are going to be able to concentrate better because the need to move will be taken care of. I have heard wonderful things about fidget bands and cannot wait to incorporate them into my classroom.
This year, students will most likely be using their own supplies instead of communal ones. The supply bins are an organized way for students to keep all their supplies in one place at school. I anticipate the students decorating their supply bins and making them their own. These will be kept in school and are also an easy way to keep track of supplies.
