My Students

I have the pleasure of teaching 6th graders new to the middle school experience! They are in a completely new environment, going from multiple feeder schools to one middle school. They range in skill level and ability in a variety of areas including reading and writing.

Yet they are Curious, Creators, World Changers, Inventors, Artists, Engineers and so much more!

" The future of the world is in my classroom today"-Ivan Welton Fitzwater. Each one ready to show what they are learning and how they are collaborating with each other and with the world!

My Project

My desire is to create a classroom where students are able to focus on their core work while building their 21st-century skills. I would love for my students to have a classroom that is inviting as well as organized and focused in a way that models the clarity, directness, and attention to detail many 6th graders need to keep order in their full and busy lives.

Having the easel will aid students on all levels including learners that need more time on task, learners that need modifications, and learners that are ready for enrichment, I will be able to leave up student generated responses and notes to encourage and drive rich conversations instead of erasing them before each class session and having to regenerate them the next class.

I will also be able to place important details like Driving Questions and Important tasks in places to be left in the room instead of writing and erasing on a consistent basis. This will reduce the clutter created by endeavoring to use the boards in class to place all of the class information as well as having direct class. When students are able to focus on what they need without clutter or being overstimulated they are able to be more successful as well as model for themselves what they see and have going on in class and be more productive young people.
