My 15 energetic kindergarten students are ready for a successful school year in person. The best way of doing that is by providing them with different technology to use throughout the day. We do many activities throughout the day and try to reach all the students' different learning styles. "The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you." -B.B. King
My students' learning styles and needs are as diverse as their backgrounds, but they all have the yearning to be successful.
Many families of our school have been in the school district for generations. I myself went to this school as a student and I am now teaching in it.
My Project
This project was inspired by the IF/THEN project, Women in STEM Exploration, Innovation & Communication through Video Production. My students will learn about careers in STEM. The first If/then resource I will use with the students is: The Beata Mierzwa video to show students how they can design clothes/jewelry and how successful they can be in the future by using their imagination and creativity even as a scientist. The students will learn how their job as a scientist can be fun. Students will take a science topic they enjoy, take pictures of the different items to design and then make a movie of their creation on the Ipad and/ or laptop just as Beata did in her video.
I want to spark my students interest by having different options of technology available to them to create, design and make connections to successful people with their own STEM creations.
Since my students are just entering into school, the two sources of technology will help them in using technology resources at different levels. The second IF/Then resource students will learn about and use is the Curiosity Camp: Nature Journal with Sam Wynns who is a conservation biologist. This is a great way to introduce a STEM career to young women. This will show students that we can all help to persevere our environment. Students can take pictures outside and record a short video using the iPad to promote protection of plants and animals and their habitats.
