“Every student can learn, just not on the same day or in the same way.”
-George Evans
I have the privilege of teaching 12 students with special needs. In my class, I truly have special children. They are all unique and contribute to our family in different ways. One thing they all have in common is that they are eager to learn. My students have experienced various hardships, yet they are still enthusiastic about school. I take pride in making school an enjoyable and creative learning experience.
Our school is a Title 1 school. Living in a low socioeconomic school community our student population is predominantly temporary housing or in shelters. We provide 100% free breakfast and lunch to our students. 10% of our students experience homelessness.
Although my students may struggle more than others, I believe in them and I believe with the right resources they can achieve anything.
My Project
My students need a Microsoft Surface Pro to explore the world through a 21st-century lens and to become the creators and innovators of tomorrow. When conducting small group lessons or providing intervention services, the Microsoft Surface PRO will be the perfect tool to motivate and stimulate their minds. It would allow me to accommodate the learning styles of my kinesthetic, auditory and visual learners while making learning fun.
“If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn”
-Ignacio Estrada
In a technology-driven society, I want to give my students the upper hand by giving them exposure to the best resources. With the Microsoft Pro, my students will also be able to draw and paint, take photos, and create beautiful stories that they can share with the class.
The Microsoft Pro will be used to differentiate classroom instruction based on 1st grade standards as well as to help my English language learners.
