Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students and I are so fortunate to have a safe and positive space in which to learn, but resources for public education, as we all know, can be sparse.
Each day they come to school from a wide variety of home settings: Many of my students speak another language at home.
Many of their families struggle to support them with basic supplies. Many of them have learning needs that make school difficult. Despite this, my students show up every day, ready to learn; together, they make up a community that I am glad to be a part of. My school embraces these students, giving them a safe and stimulating environment to learn in, but cannot always provide the necessary resources to give them they high quality educational experience they need and deserve.
My Project
My students simply need to be able to have an organized classroom environment, not in the least to help us manage some of the amazing learning tools that have been donated to us by kind hearted folks on DonorsChoose. They will use the requested bins to store everyday items such as classroom project materials, headphones for computer time, and lunches for school trips.
In many ways, it is the little things, like having an organized room, that make students feel like they come to learn in a space where they are valued, respected, and cared for.
My goal is to create this space, and donations to this project, among many other factors, will help us to do so.
