We Bee-lieve in Problem Solving

Help me give my students a new way to build problem solving skills, critical thinking and teamwork. Bee-Bots are programable robots designed for young learners and they will be used to help teach and practice these skills.

My Students

I have a very diverse group of kindergartners. They are excited about school on a daily basis and eager to learn. They are a very imaginative group of children who are kind and encouraging to each other. While many of the students in my classroom have had preschool and other extracurricular experiences prior to kindergarten, many of my students have not. For several students, kindergarten is their first experience interacting with other students in a group setting.

Being able to work together and solve problems are goals that I have for each one of my students.

These skills will help my students learn to their fullest potential in kindergarten and through the rest of their lives. It is my desire to help instill these traits in each of my students.

My Project

The Bee-Bot robots will be used by small groups of students to encourage critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork. Bee-Bots are easily programed by young students. By using the simple commands on the Bee-Bot, the students will use critical thinking and problem solving to make their Bee-Bot get from point A to point B. Team work will be crucial since the students will be in small groups to solve the challenges. Bee-Bots do not need a specific track to move on, so students will begin by making their Bee-Bot travel on the floor. Bee-Bots can also move on a game board path. Game board paths will be introduced to help students have to create a plan for getting their Bee-Bot from start to the finish.

Once the students have mastered the basic programing of the Bee-bot, students will be given harder tasks to accomplish as a team.

Bee-Bots can be used in any subject area and the tasks can be differentiated to reach all levels of learners.
