Writing skills just like all other skills start in kindergarten. If we can teach our young children the basics of writing, it will be easier for them as they get older.
I teach 44 awesome Kindergarten students who are eager to learn.
I have 22 kids in my am class and 22 in the pm class. We are all excited to be at a school where the staff lives out our motto each day "Every Child...Everyday...Whatever It Takes." To do that, we must all work hard make every minute of the 2 1/2 hours the kids are in class count.
My Project
I want to make every minute of the 2 1/2 hours my students are with me count. One way I accomplish this is to provide centers that cover the common core objectives well. I need a variety of writing aids, such as pencils and stamps, to provide my students with. Writing is something that I incorporate into all aspects of my classroom and my curriculum. My students should come out of kindergarten writing 3 related sentences about 1 topic.
These materials will help my students work to achieve their kindergarten writing goals in small group, large group and center settings.
With your help, we can make my kindergartners wee little writers for years to come.
