This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Think left and think right! Think low and think high! Oh, the thinks you can think up, if only you try!" - Dr. Seuss
My students are precious and precocious kindergartners who come from many different types of backgrounds!
Our school district serves a large area that is comprised of both rural and suburban towns. Approximately 70% of students in my class qualify for free lunches and our school is classified as Title I. These statistics do not hold us back!
The individual needs of my students are just as diverse as their backgrounds. Some children are emerging readers while others are still developing alphabet skills and phonics.
My Project
We are asking for an iPad and an Osmo coding kit. Coding and robotics, combined with math and critical thinking skills make this a technology that is friendly for young children, yet challenging. It will help our students become more fluent in the technology that they may one day use in a lucrative career.
Today's students are the technology leaders of the future!
As such, we must help them begin learning about that technology NOW! Beginning their technology and coding education in kindergarten will make it easier for them to learn and build on that knowledge as they continue through school!
