My Students
My students need quality writing mentor books and other organizing tools to help guide them to becoming stronger Super Writers!
Our urban school is in a high poverty area and serves many low-income families and students who are English language learners. The majority of my students come from low, socio-economic backgrounds and 85% of them qualify for free/reduced price school lunch.
My energetic, diverse class of kindergarteners represent a plethora of cultures and linguistic backgrounds. My students are: Latino, Arabic, Chinese, Burmese, Vietnamese, Filipino, Samoan, Indian, African American, Japanese/Caucasian, and Greek/African American.
My Project
Writing workshop time is when my students minds are sparked by their writing about their own personal interests. They love writing about playing with their friends, family trips and events, and their favorite things to do and eat. The writing books will serve as guides to how a Super a Writing should look like. The file folders, sheet protectors, and binder rings will be used to organize and make accessible writing checklists and guides for the students to use on a weekly basis. The movable chair will help the teacher move with ease to conference with students on developing their writing. The colored paper will be used to make a cover, and finally "Publish" their stories for their classmates, school community, and families to read and enjoy!
The writing mentor books will give my students a deeper connection to develop their own written stories.
The organizational tools will help my students organize all their written stories and access writing tools to check their writing. With these materials, we will become stronger, more detailed writers and more independent students! We love writing and we are all Super Writers!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
