We Are Stuck on Learning Letters and Words

Help me give my students resources to develop early literacy skills. With these items, each student would have a set of letters for different literacy activities in class and centers.

My Project

One of the best parts of teaching kindergarten is seeing the excitement on a student's face when they understand something that was once a struggle now makes sense. For many kids, it is when they realize they know the letters and their sounds to "crack the code" for reading and writing CVC words.

The students love to show their understanding of early literacy skills through hands-on games and activities.

This project will support each kindergarten student on my Title 1 campus with a set of magnetic letters. Each day they will participate in activities such as putting them in alphabetical order and building CVC words. Each classroom will also receive graphic representations of CVC words students can use to practice their emerging decoding skills. My teammates and I look forward to giving our students materials to empower them to grow as readers and writers.
