This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"The World is Wide!" This is our class motto. Each day, my 4th, 5th and 6th graders learn to experience the world that expands outside their door. Utilizing technology, students explore not only their own community but the world beyond it and learn to determine their place as global citizens.

Our small K-6th grade school is home to some of the hardest-working kids you will ever meet.

Nearly every student comes to us as a second language learner, and while most of our students face countless obstacles, they are determined to shine bright as scholars. The teachers and staff are deeply committed to making sure every member of our school community is prepared and empowered to become successful students as they move forward to middle school, high school and beyond!

My Project

My students have been working hard to perform well in Khan Academy's Learnstorm 2015 math challenge -- despite having few resources, we have managed to fight our way into the top 10 on their contest leader boards. Adding these iPads to our classroom would provide more students with access to the math instruction provided on Khan Academy. Many of our students have been able to pass their math mastery standards thanks to the extra instruction provided by Khan Academy. More than that, however, students will understand that because of their daily, hard work, and determination, they earned these iPads -- teaching the important lesson that hard work is recognized and rewarded.

Donations to this project will impact our students on both an academic and personal level.

Students will have better access to technology and will not have to wait their turn to use the equipment. This translates into more time learning! Students will also learn that hard work is recognized and rewarded. They have worked tirelessly to learn new math skills, and earn points in the Khan Academy Learnstorm 2015, and these iPads are the result of that effort.
