My Project
My students can't get enough of the fun adventures we have been able to provide in our school garden thanks in part to this platform. These resources will help me continue to provide those learning experiences and expand upon them by adding waterfowl to our garden family! We have enjoyed our chickens so much, and we were even able to do a live stream of our last chick hatch across the district. We had teachers and students at all grade levels beyond excited about this adventure. My goal for this project is to expand on that excitement and compare the similarities and differences between different livestock animals.
My students are always eager for anything we are doing and so many of them have taken that excitement home with them to start their own gardens or chickens at home.
This project will give us the incubator and other tools necessary to hatch ducklings alongside our chicks and watch them grow together. Students will learn how they can be a beneficial part of our garden and environment. The duckling snuggles will of course be an added bonus!
We are also asking for a few items to restock our basic garden needs. We use lots of gloves, aprons, and watering cans in our daily garden upkeep. The students really get into the experience when they can "dress up" like a garden pro and get to work. I love watching them soak up their time in the garden with such enthusiasm, and the best is hearing their families tell me how much they love hearing the stories at home as well.
