This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are smarter together when we put our heads together and come up with a good question. Our question is, "What can be learned from fossils?"

My students are poor inner city first grade scientists.

Their resources are limited but the desire to learn is endless. These children are eager to have sensory experiences, where they have the opportunity to touch, hear, taste and smell within their learning experiences.

My Project

Students will use these materials in a scientific environment, where they will pose their question,"What can be learned from fossils?". This will then open a door to explore what a scientist does and how their work here will help the scientist within. They will be exposed to and practice using new vocabulary. Students will be quizzed to formulate higher level questions and then search for the answers. This will all happen using the fossil kits and models. There will be many different book resources available for exploration.

Donating to this project will make it possible for my students to have a unique experience handling many different fossils.

These materials will help to facilitate inquiry, and the positive experience will inspire young people to develop good questioning skills.
