We are SHARP!

My students need a reliable electric pencil sharpener!

My classroom sits in the downtown area of a large city. We are an inner-city school with high poverty and high need. 89% of our students are on free and reduced lunch and free textbooks due to the facts that their guardians struggle to provide the necessities on a daily basis. Yet the same, these students are so lovable and hard-working. I provide nearly all the school supplies they need to succeed in the school year. There are little outside donations available to us. These students are so grateful of the materials they have and have been given. Yet, there is one thing I cannot afford to buy for them- a heavy duty pencil sharpener.

I have purchased many pencil sharpeners in my years of teaching, but none have lasted longer than a few months. They always wear out due to the volume of pencils being sharpened. I am all out of funds for pencil sharpeners. We need a heavy-duty, made-for-a-classroom pencil sharpener.

You can't learn or write if you have a broken pencil, but what if you don't even have a pencil sharpener to sharpen the pencil? This is a common occurrence in our classroom. More often than not, we are without a sharpener for our pencils. The solution? With your help, our classroom would like to purchase the heaviest duty, high volume pencil sharpener we can find. This pencil sharpener is designed to hold up to the beatings of having countless pencils sharpened in a day's time. It is guaranteed not to leave us dull!

So, please, won't you consider helping me to continue to provide the basics needs these children need at school. You can help, with a small donation, to keep our pencils sharpened and our frustrations low. We've got enough worries at home, we don't need any more at school over something as simple as a broken pencil!
