Help me give my students more sewing machines for our after school sewing club! There is a lot of interest in our club and we would love to have a few more machines to work with.

My Project

Two months ago I started a sewing club for students at my school. I have been blown away by the generous donations from my family, friends, and the Donors Choose community. Whats more, there has been serious interest in our sewing club. So much so, that we could use more sewing machines.

Each week new students join our club: some are interested in learning to use a machine for the first time and others are experienced sewists looking for a space to work on projects.

I would love for each student who attends our club to have the opportunity to work on a machine. Learning the basics of threading a machine, winding a bobbin, and sewing accurate lines takes a lot of time and practice. Our club members have been wonderfully patient at sharing machines and working together but we could make quicker progress with two more machines. Students who take the bus home after school only have an hour to set up, sew, and clean up. They would have more time to learn the basic skills they need and work on fun projects if we had more sewing machines.
