Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students love to read and lately they have been requesting book series. They also love to sit in our reading nook on the floor or in the few comfy chairs I already have. My library is growing all the time and this time when I asked them what we were missing, they said we were missing graphic novels, and completed series. The books requested are based on their wish list of new books for our library.
The best way to get students excited about reading is to have high interest, and exciting texts for them to read.
My goal is to always foster the love of reading by providing those types of books and a fun, quiet place for them to read. My students aren't always able to get these books and must rely on the school. Our school library does not have updated books, so the students rely on the classroom libraries. The addition of these books, and the comfy chairs will no doubt increase their desire to read and improve their reading ability.
