I teach an exceptional group of students that work hard and are developing into independent learners. It is amazing to watch the children gain independence in what they do as their knowledge and confidence grow. I enjoy watching friendships bloom as they learn to collaborate and work together in our learning environment.
My class is a fun group of children that thrive on challenges and work together to make learning an exciting adventure every single day.
I feel proud to be their teacher.
My Project
I would like to allow the students I teach, a chance to bloom. I have noticed that over the past six months of quarantine our classroom gardens have been neglected.
I wish to kick the new school year off with a hands-on service learning project they can really dig into.
To begin, our small groups of students will test the soil, measure the layout of the garden, determine sun exposure, and create to scale a garden layout. Their garden could have a Disney theme, cater to butterflies, or even be grown from kitchen scraps!
My students will create proposals for classroom teachers in each grade level to approve. This will give my students a sense of pride in their school campus, develop their presentation skills, along with supporting the growth and beauty of our school. My students want to complete this service project for their classmates and all staff. We can all use a little more sunshine right now!
