We Are Passionately Curious! Learning Takes us Everywhere!
Help me give my students the alphabet sounds teaching tubs for beginning literacy. It is so important to start with a good foundation for letter and sound recognition.
My students are fabulous! We are only 4 strong now, but we hope to enroll more as the year progresses. These 4 children have a great capacity to learn. These students are very kind and caring to each other, students, and staff and know how to interact with them appropriately. They share responsibilities in the classroom and playground and are always willing to help others. Almost every project I start, becomes student lead because they want to learn more.
They want to know everything and love making the classroom a "home" during the day.
These students live in a very small community, approximately 130 people in population, and a total of 42 students attending school. We only have a post office and school in town. School is their interaction with adults and other students during the week, that is why I believe they want to learn so much during class time. I want to give them a great start with education.
My Project
We are a very small district nestled in the Eastern plains of Colorado. We are in a preschool room that hasn't been used for a couple of years and many of the toys/items are no longer useable for the children. I have refurbished and reused as many items as I could. These supplies will help complete our centers. These are a few of the items that the children would like. We discussed as a class what was needed and what they would like to use in the centers.
The children show a great interest in science and enjoying doing experiments and activities.
They always ask questions and want to go farther, with a microscope and other science supplies, I will be able to show them instead of just telling them. We are also in desperate need of puzzles. We have old and handy-down puzzles, some of which are missing pieces or not age appropriate for the preschoolers. I have chosen educational puzzles for expanded learning. The sound/letter buckets would provide a group of tangible items for them to practice their sounds and letters during circle and free time. It is much easier when you can use many of your senses to learn. The art supplies would aid in learning creative ways to paint and draw with an easel, stamp pads and ink dots. The children specifically asked for the interactive rugs to use in the classroom. We love our small town and our small school and I know they will receive an excellent education here, but it is an amazing feeling to teach them with appropriate supplies. We would be honored if our wish list was fulfilled. Thank you.
